Getting Ready!

Good morning everyone!  I completely forgot to sit down and blog yesterday.  I woke up and decided I would go ahead and write since this will be the last entry for Maggie and the BURBS!.  My brother arrives next week and I have decided that as his big sister, I would create a blog for both of us.  I have not finished setting up the new page but be sure to keep an eye out for a new URL in the coming weeks.  Speaking of my brother, I had just about finished everything I could do for his welcome home.  I had left food in his crib, I had saved some milk for him under the couch, I stored LEGO men and car wheels in special hiding places so he would be excited to play when he found them and I tested all his baby equipment out so that it would be safe.  Unfortunately, my parents found all of the food, milk and toys and took them away!  How am I supposed to take care of my sweet baby brother if my parents keep ruining my surprises?  I guess I will just have to outsmart my mom.  We have lots planned this week because my mom is constantly reminding me that this is the last week I will be an only child.  We have already gone swimming, to the library and the playground and we still have more to do.  I hear we are going to the zoo and I have also been promised bagels with my daddy one morning.  I cannot wait for the baby to get here.  I hope he brings chocolate to share.  I think that would be a nice thing for him to do.  I will take lots of pictures when he arrives and post them ASAP.  Well, I still have lots to do.  Better be going.  -Maggie

This week: I read books with my dad, I spied on my neighbors, I went swimming and it rained on us, I tested the baby's toys for safety and I finished painting our room.

They took away my pacifier...

Good afternoon everyone! Well, I am doing better than expected. As of last week, I am no longer allowed to have my pacifier. I am sad but I understand. I have written a list of pros and cons and I would like to share my list with you. Pro, I smile more. Con, I miss it. Pro, I can sing and laugh really loud and not worry about my pacifier falling out. Con, I wish I still had it. Pro, I am learning how to speak more clearly and people understand me. Con, I have nothing to suck on. Pro, everyone thinks I am beautiful now. Con, I really really want it. After I looked at all the pros and cons, I realized I do not need my pacifier. I have now willingly given it up and I am proud of myself. I guess that is on the "pro" list also. In other news, I had my last day of swim lessons today. I can kick my legs, float on my back and go all the way under water. My teacher said I was like a fish. I like fish. I am disappointed that my lessons are over. At first, I was unsure and a little scared of the big pool. Now, I can't get enough. I would live in the pool if my mom would serve my meals in there and let me watch Dora the Explorer while I blew bubbles. Unfortunately, I am land bound. I guess there are great things to do on land also. I can ride my bike, run and play on the slides. Speaking of slides, I am late for my playground date. I hope my mom is ready. Better go! Until next week (or as some of you may have noticed, it is more like every other week)... -Maggie
This week: I wrote my blog, I vegged out and watched TV, I sang karaoke, I played in the park, I made improvements to my sippy cup (if you notice, I have added a straw), I got a balloon and I dressed myself.

I GOT WHEELS!

Tuesday again? The weeks are flying by. The best thing in the world happened this week. I got a bike!!! It is just for me and now I can go anywhere I want. I think getting a bike was a smart decision. After all, we are very busy getting ready for my baby brother's arrival and I need to be able to help out. I have even been given a few more responsibilities. I now am expected to walk up stairs all by myself, clean up all my toys and I think maybe do the grocery shopping? Not sure about that last one but I figure now that I have a bike I will be able to help my mom out more. Speaking of helping out more, my dad taught me how to build shelves and install closet rods. We had to go to Home Depot for the supplies and I was in charge of making sure all the measurements were correct. Then we built shelves in the bathroom and my parents needed to fix their closet. I had a great time learning how to build things. It was not quite as simple as Legos but it was easy enough. All in all, this week has been wonderful. Well, I was in the middle of teaching my monkey all the colors. My favorite color is yellow but I like them all. I should get back to teaching. Can you believe he thinks green is red? HA! Until next week... -Maggie
This week: I played in my tunnels, got severely tickled by my parents, ate chocolate ice cream with my mom, went to home depot and played with my cousins.

WATER!

Good evening everyone! I know you may be concerned that I am up past my bedtime and it is a valid concern. It is very
late but I had the desire to blog. So I guess I should recap my week. Well, this past weekend my parents bought me a car! I know. I thought we were destined to walk everywhere for the rest of my life but those days are over. We still walk a lot but as it turns out, there is a big world out there that you can only access by car. Our first outing was to Welch Lake with the Gallaghers. An outing only made possible by our car. I had so much fun. We had a picnic and went swimming and played in the sand. Summer is fun. It really is. I love the water and it seems we get to play in it all the time. However, I must admit I am not a huge fan of the pool. My mom signed me up for swimming lessons and well, they are not fun. Imagine a large pool with rubber ducks floating around, kids laughing and your mom holding you back from all the fun. I do not understand why I cannot show her how great of a swimmer I am all by myself. She keeps telling me I will just sink to the bottom if she lets go of me but that is ridiculous. So unfortunately, against every fiber of being, my mom holds me for the entire 30 minute class. I may someday give in to her over protective ways but not today. I truly hope this summer continues to be as wonderful. I am having a blast. Before I close, I wanted to express my deepest condolences for those of you that live in Texas. I have heard the heat is disgusting. It was 81 degrees here today and that is hot enough. My thoughts are with you, Texans. Stay hydrated and stay inside. This too shall pass. Well, off to bed. Until next week... -Maggie
This week: I slept in the car, ate beans and rice, went to the lake and played in the water.

Independence = FUN!

Good evening everyone! I hope everyone had a fantastic fourth of July. Mine was absolutely the greatest day. My Aunt Megan came to visit so that was gift enough but my dad also had a three day weekend so the fun was endless! We started Saturday morning at the park. A man gave me an American flag and everyone told me I was pretty and let's face it, what girl doesn't like to be told how gorgeous she is. There was a parade that went right by my home and I got to watch from my living room window. After the parade, we went to a place called Graydon Pool. It is like a beach but there are no waves. It is magical! I had so much fun. Then we ate dinner and I fell asleep. If I had one complaint it would be that my parents did not inform me there would be fireworks. I was not even given the opportunity to watch them. I suppose they did start 3 hours after my bedtime but I overheard people saying they were the best fireworks they had ever seen! Apparently, Megan and my parents watched from the roof and they even saw the fireworks over the Hudson River. I am sure they think they are pretty special but all I know is that I had the appropriate amount of sleep and that is worth something. Well, I must be going. Dinner is on the table, or at least it better be. I am starving and my mom is on the computer doing who knows what. Until next week... -Maggie
This week: I celebrated America's independence and played with my Aunt Megan. I also got a NEW cousin!!!! Happy birthday TORIN!!!! We love you!

HELP! Beach! Please! Pop!

Long time, no blog! I know. I have been busy. Last week I was on vacation with my mom, dad, Gramma, Pop and Uncle Tom. We went to the beach. Or as they say here in Jersey, the shore. I would like to start off by saying it was the most fantastic place I have ever been. I loved the water, I loved the sand and I never wanted to leave. Unfortunately, they made me leave and no matter how hard I tried, I was unable to convince anyone to bring me back. The best part of the beach was the water. It was cold but I was really tough. I ran through the waves and I didn't look back. I also liked being buried in the sand and stomping on castles my mom had built. Every day when we left, Pop bought me ice cream. It was glorious. We sang songs, danced in our chairs and covered ourselves in ice cream. Well, I covered myself in ice cream. No one else seemed to enjoy their dessert as much as I did. When I was not at the beach or eating ice cream, I was playing in the backyard. I must remember to tell my mom to get a backyard because I love outside. There were beach balls, a pool, grass, flowers and lots of room to run and jump. I had so much fun. I do miss my uncle and my grandparents but I have been promised they will be back when my little brother is born. Speaking of my little brother, I think he better get here soon because my mom is going to pop if she gets any bigger. Well, I just took a break from coloring so I could send you an update but I hear my crayons calling. Gotta go! Until next week... -Maggie
This week: I went to the beach and had fun!

I'm a Jersey Girl!

Good Morning Everyone! I live in Ridgewood, New Jersey now. Zip code 07450. The move was successful and things are shaping up. Due to my mom's "condition", we are not moving in at the pace I have been accustomed to but we are almost there. Because of this, the interior pictures will not be available until next week. But I have included some photos of our view. In the southeast view with the park to the right, you can see the cheese shop on the corner. The south view is of the park and the southwest view is looking right at the train station. That is where my dad goes every morning. He works in the city. The train really does say, "Choo Choo" and I never get tired of it. I guess I can safely say we are happy here. To be honest, my mom is happier now than I have ever seen her. We have only been here a week but I can tell. My favorite part of Ridgewood is the fantastic neighbors. Just behind us are the nicest men, Ben and Jerry. They have ice cream in their house and I can't wait to try every flavor. There is so much going on here but I will wait until next week when I have more pictures. Well, it is time for me to play! I found my dad's old legos while we were moving. I love them! I can build houses and play with little people and race cars and make a mess. It is glorious! Until next week... -Maggie
This week: I moved to Ridgewood, I went to my cousin Joe's lacross game, I played with legos and I went to Ben and Jerry's for some ice cream.
